Lake Velke Darko

Darko is the largest [206 hectares] and most popular lake in the area boasting sandy beaches on some stretches of the shore. It is used for recreational sailing, surfing, canoeing and dragon boat racing. During the summer season the yacht club rents windsurfers, paddle boats and canoes.

Velke Darko Nature Reserve

The Darko Nature Reserve is famous for its nature trail through peat covered areas of spruce forest and is home to many rare species of flora and fauna.

Devet Skal

Devet Skal at 836m is the highest peak in the Zdarske hills and second highest in Moravian Highlands. In 1976 it was declared a national momument.

Zakova mountain trail – Tisuvka

This is a circular route through the central ridge of the Zdarske hills. It starts in the village of Cikhaj.

Castle of Zdar nad Sazavou

This beautiful castle was designed by Jan Blazej Santini. Today it houses the museum of books, part of the National Museum in Prague.

Zelena Hora

Above the castle on the Green Hill stands the unique church John of Nepomuk now under the control of UNESCO world heritage trust.

Vesely Kopec Hlinsko

This outdoor museum provides an exhibition of traditional farm architecture from different parts of the country. It provides a very good insight into farming life in the past, focusing on the survival of many types of traditional crafts as displayed by the craftsmen themselves.

Pernstejn Castle

The original core of this fortification was built in the 13th century. Major changes and additions were made in 15th and 16th centuries as the Pernstejn family influence spread. This is one of the best preserved castled in Bohemia.


Cycling in the Czech Highlands is an extremely popular pastime for locals and tourists alike. The entire region has marked cycle trails along the quiet back roads and forest trails. To add to the social camaraderie of this pastime, numerous restaurants line every route and always carry plentiful supplies of cold beer and other snacks/drinks.


The regional centre of Jihlava is well worth a visit. Gothic architecture is a feature of the square with the houses` cellars being connected to form catacombs - open to the public.


For those who want to include golf as part of their holiday, the Czech Republic is developing some exciting new courses and regularly hosts European Tour events. Two driving ranges are situated near to our properties and our central location makes for easy access to the best that Czech Republic offers.

X-Country Skiing

Continental winter conditions always guarantee a good X-Country skiing season which is a very popular sport. Nearby Nove Mesto hosts a FIS World Cup every year where competitors compete for the `Golden Ski`.
